I have subscribed to three RSS readers (if I have the terminology correct). They are the Columbia Tribune -- to keep up with the newest news, Awful Library Books -- for some laughs, and Hacker News -- just for fun. I think I will enjoy this new technology. I had no idea that it was out there. Of course, there is a lot of technology that I have no idea is out there. And I still love to just sit in front of my fire and read a book.

Christmas is coming....
Christmas is my favorite holiday. Not just because of the giving of presents, which is fun to do and fun to receive, but also because Christmas is that time when people smile at you and wish you Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas. It is a time of watching old favorite movies such as: "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Scrooge" and "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" and "White Christmas". Not all told the Christmas story, but all of the movies have the Christmas spirit of giving and good will to all in them.
I especially like "It's a Wonderful Life" because it shows just how much one person's life can impact a whole community. I like to think that our politeness and helpfulness to a patron here in the library can really make a person's day. And isn't it just so uplifting to do just that.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas.

Re: next assignment
On a typical Saturday day off, I begin to clean my house in the late morning. As I am cleaning, I begin to wonder what fast food chain I will frequent at lunch time. Usually, Taco Bell wins out, and going through the Drive Thru, I order: Fiesta Potatoes, a Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito, and that medium Diet Pepsi. My energy revives, I return home to finish clean, and finally I get to sit down and read that good book I am into.

Soooooooo, I am going to try this again...........
What to do....
Quite a while ago, from a coworker, I requested help on an important decision for that evening. I was at 1040 calories for the day and counting. Should I a) have a glass of wine or b) have 6 yogurt covered pretzels when I returned home. He (my coworker) thought I should weigh the decision based on health....ie: wine being good for my health and yogurt covered pretzels not. Then, I thought, throwing caution to the wind, I could have one delicious chocolate covered mint and 3 yogurt covered pretzels. He said, two yogurt covered pretzels and one glass of wine, was what I should consider. So that is what I opted for.

Re: play and surprises
Well, I got some followers! This is a surprise! Now my perfectionism has kicked in and I don't know what to write or blog.
How do I play? I think I play the most by going out with friends, and chatting and having coffee. We have good discussions about everything, and I enjoy this very much. But how to play as a life long learning habit --- I just don't know. Any suggestions?

Re: work and learning
Hi! I forgot to put my easiest learning trait on my blog. It is: taking responsibility for my learning. Since coming to work at the library, I have learned the ten key pad (which I use all the time) and more about Microsoft Word and Power Point. I am looking at learning as being an adventure, and when I make mistakes --- oh well! --- doesn't everyone???? And, yes, I can learn from my mistakes, also!
Re: work and blogging
After watching the slide show, I have decided that my weakest point is seeing problems as challenges. I tend to see the glass half empty rather than half full. So my goal over the next few months is to change the way I view life's "challenges" especially here at work. I suppose my biggest challenge here at work is becoming proficient in blogging as I am just getting started with it. Blogging sounds like fun; I have heard of it, of course, but haven't tried it before now. So I will see how it goes. I look forward to reading other staff members' blogs.
